Modern Senior... Kaylee's Story

Tell Your Story -- Senior Sessions

When I met Kaylee for the first time, she came down to the studio so we could chat. We were chatting about her senior portraits and it was our time to figure out what we were going to do. The thing is,  When you meet someone for the first time, you don't typically try to get their life story or figure out what makes them who they are. However, when you are a photographer thats not necessarily true! With every session, I work hard to match the people I'm photographing with an environment that best fits their interests or would make the best setting to help share their personal story. Sometimes it's not as easy as you first thought and sometimes it clicks fast and couldn't be more perfect.

When I met with Kaylee, she had a lot going on! She is currently a small business owner. She is designing, creating and selling skirts and she is pretty fantastic at it too! She is a member of the band AND she is a senior in high school. Whoa.
Her heart and soul however, is filled with her love for books and passion for reading.  Immediately I knew that I wanted to take her session to the library.  I mean, how many times have you thought about going to the library for professional photos? and WHY NOT? It a great idea!!!

We headed to the Norfolk Library and It couldn't have been a better fit.  I met Kaylee and her mom at the library. When we got there, they told me that they used to live down the street from there and that Kaylee used to go to this library all the time.  Mom even had photos of Kaylee when she was little in the train in the back yard.  I didn't know any of this when we were picking locations and coming up with ideas. I just knew that I loved how the inside of this particular library looked and I thought it would really fit her personality.

It sure is funny how things work out sometimes.

This is Kaylee..

We obviously went and played on the train.
Because.. you have to.

Senior Year of high school is absolutely a roller coaster. It is the last year of being a "kid" but it's the first time you are thinking about being an adult. It's a time when you are starting to think about who you want to be and how you will get there.  Senior Portraits should reflect you in that crazy beautiful time of your life.  Reflecting the person you are right in this moment.

And if we can do that in a cool location.. even better ;)
