Fun Filled Photography Day

3 photo shoots.. 1 day!

Started off the day in Millerton NY at the Harney and Sons Tea Shop!

I started off the day meeting Brigitte Harney, who was lovely! I went around the shop and took photographs in each of the beautiful rooms. If ever you get the chance to stop in, I recommend it! You can have a tea tasting, grab some lunch, or buy cute little trinkets! Check them out at www.Harney.com/visitus.asp

After my Harney Trip, I headed to the Cyr family home for some family portraits!  They aren't ready yet, but i guess I can show you just one ;)

Emma and Peyton! So cute :)

After all this, I headed out for one more photo stop! A friend of mine works at as a bartender in town and he let me go down and snap a few shots of him at work!

Over all, today was a great day! 3 projects done for school and fun was had by all. It helped that the tea shop was sampling chocolate cookies today... and when i stopped over at my aunts she tempted me with her home made corn chowder!  I love my family and friends.  With that said, its time for bed. (and now i'm dr. seuss?) But seriously, I'm beat.  So from me and my puppy who passed out on my leg.. Goodnight blog-land.  Sweet dreams.

Home for the weekend!

Happy Friday!!!

Today was an AWESOME day! I had the privilege of meeting Danny Hastings! He is an amazing photographer and just recently wrote, starred in, and filmed the most ridiculous and funny movie The Love Potion! We had the chance to view it last night with him and it was just a fun experience.  One of my favorite quotes from the movie that are appropriate for my "G rated" blog.. "a man worth crying over, would never make you cry" Aside from that line, the movie was silly and funny and entertaining.  Danny actually filmed myself and my girl Abi talking about the film.  It should be up on the YouTube channel soon if anyone is interested in seeing that. As for right now, to check out the trailer for the film DEFINITELY check this out...  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r_YQqHBC8fI   Not only was Danny just the nicest guy, his photography was inspiring and on point.  He has learned from the beginning. Trying things in the darkroom before photoshop was around and using his lights to help tell stories.  He is just amazing! A pretty great start to the weekend!

Now on to the rest!  I'm back home for the weekend.  Keeping busy and LOTS of photography ahead.  Tomorrow morning i have a shoot at the Harney and Sons Tea Shop.  I'm very excited about that! I promise to have pictures to show all! I'm going in the morning, so i'm really hoping for some beautiful morning sun and glow in the store.  Which reminds me, i need to charge my camera otherwise i'll need a sketch pad and pencil!

To end the day, I'm headed to the Cyr family home.  A friend from a long time ago grew up and has the most beautiful family in the world and I have the opportunity to photograph them! I'm looking forward to that!

The only thing that shocked me (not necessarily in a good way) is Connecticut got a LOT of snow! In MA we had snow, but nothing like this! My mom literally stayed home from work today to shovel the roof.  Oh yeah, you read that correctly, she climbed on the roof with a shovel.  Apparently, I'm the only one that thought that was potentially dangerous, but I guess that didn't matter!

So now, I'm home.  My dog, who missed me TONS acts like an idiot when I come home. If i'm not sitting on the couch, petting him constantly, he feels the need to act up and cause trouble to get attention. He has basically eaten both a slipper and a cook book tonight since i've been home and he was put in a time out once.  It might be a long night.  It hard to resist his cute little face though!!

Its 8pm and I must say, i'm pretty beat!  My photo shoot is bright and early tomorrow morning, So I'm headed to bed! I'll try and get a sneak peak of my tea pictures tomorrow. IF YOU'RE LUCKY!! just kidding!  Night Ya'll!!

A quick hello!

ITS REVIEW DAY!!!

I'm waiting for my meeting for our Phase 2 evaluation meeting! Its very nerve racking!! I wasn't actually nervous until, I knew I only had an hour. Now I'm a little nervous! I'm very confident in my pictures so I don't know why, but its always scary to go into a room with photographs that you worked hard at and having 3 people who look at amazing pictures year after year spending time analyzing your heart and soul.

Anywho, while I'm waiting I'm blogging and also taking a look at templates to get my website up and moving! Its all very exciting. I promise to have that set and ready as soon as possible!!

Along with websites, business plans, opening bank accounts and updating every social networking site I can think of :) I'm attempting to start my phase 3 portfolio. Its a big deal! We need to shoot model in the studio at school and on location and I can't forget to mention our commercial work that we are doing.  I've actually started that process now because its scares me the most and I need as much practice as I can get. I have a pretty scrumptious shot that I've been working on and I'm pretty proud of.  ok.. you've twisted my arm, i'll show you........

If this picture doesn't make you want to eat this stack of waffles, then you obviously hate waffles!!!

So yeah, i guess thats it for right now.  I must go to my meeting!! Wish me LUCK!!!

As promised..

Very First Blog!

This if my very FIRST blog as ©Karin Goodwin Photography! HELLO!!!

I'm currently in school, at Hallmark Institute of Photography and I've never grown so much as a person and as a photographer, especially in such a short amount of time. I've had some amazing experiences and its only been 4 months! I'm not here to bore you with all the details of how I've matured and how my photography has grown, but i will say.. I'm very proud of myself!

One of the most amazing assignments we have been given at school is to assist a photographer and I spent the day at Harvard University.  I spent an afternoon on the field for the Harvard Yale rivalry football game.  It was so amazing! Just the cherry on top of that Crimson cake, I had the opportunity to take my camera around with me and I got a few of my favorite shots! Here is a taste of what that day brought to me!

Harvard Cheerleaders were awesome!

I waited for this guy to walk in front of me, i was determined to get a shot like this! ----->
There was no zoom lens used here! I was literally in the huddle!

I love these shots, so I might be bragging a bit! But I'm ok with that! It was a very cool experience and I would have been proud to be apart of it even if i didn't get any awesome shots. I worked with Justin Ide, the school photographer and he was awesome! Such a great guy, working hard to get his message out with his photography and his work.

Right now, with school in "Phase 3" the phase just before final portfolio and GRADUATION (eeek) A lot is going on. Staying busy, would be an understatement.  I'm very excited to meet new people, go into new experiences and come away with pictures that I am proud of and that people love. My ultimate goal is to make people cry ( tears of joy people, not pain)  Wish me luck!

P.s. I love taking pictures of people, which is most likely the direction I am headed towards in my life adventure of growing up and working full time after school is over. However, I love taking pictures of nature, landscapes, and well anything i think is pretty (if I'm being honest). I'm a sucker for a sunset.  So if you follow my blog, are in a car with me around dusk, or just happen to stumble upon this, be prepared....this car makes frequent stops for a  random good sunset picture.  (Ask my boyfriend Andrew, we never get anywhere without pulling over at least once to take pictures)
