Weddings at Hallmark!

Simmer down rumor mill.. I'm only kidding!!  But seriously, we had some weddings today at the Northfield Church which was BEAUTIFUL!!  We have been borrowing the Northfield Herman School? Campus.  I'm not sure if thats the name, but it sounds right.  So yeah, anyway.. They are allowing Hallmark to shoot in their buildings.  The campus is gorgeous.  Today we had a mock wedding with my class in their church and the place is gorgeous.  ... I took pictures for all to see.

I was shooting with a Wide Angle Canon 24-70mm today, sometimes with a speedlight. I was trying to shoot with as much natural light as I could though.  The picture above was all natural window light mixed with the chandeliers.

On our Hallmark Adventure, my "son" Rick.. married 3 different women.  Not only do we have fake weddings, but we go crazy. I was the "mother of the groom" (I had him when I was 2)  There were also a few dresses in the church that we could play around with and some other props.  So.. here is what I did with my day.

So Beautiful right?  For just a mock wedding and a bunch of people who were not prepared at all for this event... I think we did pretty good!

Now.. From this whole day.. Obviously these next few were my favorite photos.. and well award winning photographs If i may say so.  Feel free to send me a blue ribbon. :-D

Today was a full day on location.  We started on the other side of Campus with Mr. Greg Heisler and David Turner's class in the Music Building on the school campus. Funny story... So Dana and I were searching the building to figure out where I wanted to do my pictures for class.  We had lost Rick and Kayli so when we got to the basement (where there were rooms and stuff) at the end of the hall we heard pop music.  It was actually Lady Marmalade and I was pretty sure that with the voice of Christina Aguliara belting we were sure to find Kayli.  We get to the door and its locked.  Now, either the school is haunted and the ghosts are big X-tina fans.. OR there was another way into this room. Dana and I searched every door and none of them led to this room!  So.. I walk over to the door and knocked.. expecting to hear Rick or Kayli answer.. instead I hear this big man voice "HELLO" Dana and I both looked at eachother in fear and the door opens. Some guy opens the door and is like.. "Hi, Come on in" We have no Idea who this person is by the way.  I was like.. "ummm, you are not our classmates" lol (no  S#^%) He goes.... nope I'm building motors.  ummm Ok, so we were like.. "well, have fun" and we booked it out of there.  This guy was SUPER nice, but we didn't expect to find a random guy in the basement jammin to some tunes.  Good times.

When we headed over to the Chapel for our wedding.. We had a full day of shooting with Michael Zide which is always an adventure.

He gave Kayli away at her wedding. Always funny that Michael Zide.  As we were getting ready to leave, we were saying goodbye to Zide and as I was standing in the doorway He and I were ATTACKED by a BAT!!!  well.. not really attacked, it flew by me, but the fear in me was enough for me.  I'm not a big fan of bats flying at my face.. ya know?

Today was a good time. Now i'm trying to get my All Hands on Deck photos done (check them out, some awesome girl does their pictures)  and well.. that whole graduation portfolio thing is kicking my butt!!

back to my editing! a picture from our music hall experience today.. just for you!

Hey YA'LL!!

I am BACK!!

KGP hit up Charleston, South Carolina with my friend and fellow photographer Abi! We checked out downtown of course, but we did a little driving while were were there and found some pretty great spots.

Down Town Charleston was lovely but I feel like we really didn't get to see a lot of it.  The little bit we did see... when i wasn't driving through, I took some pictures.

First up! Magnolio Plantation and Gardens.  We spent probably a good 4 hours at this place.  There was so much to see.  We spent waaayyy more time in the petting zoo than any twenty year olds probably should.  I was shooting with the Canon 70 to 200 mm lens which allowed me to get up and close without getting into the animals faces.  The fabulous peacock below was NOT a fan of the camera.  He seemed ok, but then he would randomly scream and sorta run towards you. He got the point across very quickly and we left him alone.  They were all so beautiful.

One of the funniest things to happen on this day was... I made a new friend.

Thank Abi for taking this lovely photo. The deer wouldn't leave me alone!! She licked me all up my arm them my neck and face. The staff thought it was hilarious!! After we walked through the petting zoo, we were walking by this beautiful lake and on the path ahead I met this guy.....

I nearly had a heart attack but Abi ran toward it. (she is obviously crazy). Luckily there was enough space on the grass for us to get around him so I did so while Abi continued taking pictures.  This one was good enough for me thanks! The Gardens at this place were incredible.  I swear we spent a good 2 hours taking pictures of flowers.  Here are a few of the grounds that i have.

We had some gear with us on our trip! This was us changing lenses and such.

Another Favorite spot of ours was Folly Beach.  It wasn't really anything special except it was a beach and the sand was soft and it was just super relaxing.

This was our rental car! She was purdy! Our super awesome car plus our GPS basically got us through this trip.  We lived in this car.

Our last and Final spot where we spent most of our evenings was this random boat dock that we found in Battery Park.  We made some friends along the way too. One evening there was a gentleman who was fishing on the dock who kept us company.  Then another evening there was a group of people that all of a sudden moved a ton of stuff onto the dock.  Sleeping bags, tents, food, I was confused so I asked what was going on, They were going camping. A friend was picking them up on his boat and they were headed to some beach.. HOW COOL IS THAT? we don't have that option in CT.  :(  Also, a man on a boat offered us beer and wine.. then made fun of us when we declined his offer.. haha

We had a lot of time waiting for the sun to set so I took lots of pictures of the water.  A few actually came out pretty cool (in my head anyway)

We sat at the very end of this dock with our feet in the water. However, i could not put my feet in the water for very long. I have a major fear of sharks.  Its sad, but true. I can go in the ocean, but not very far, or for very long. I'm weird.. but I have a major fear.  So after I told this story to Abi, We are sitting on the dock and all of a sudden, Abi Whispers.. "karin, give me your camera" because of her tone I frightened me a bit, so I looked in the direction she was looking in and I see this fin sticking out of the water.  I nearly had a heart attack.  Come to find out.. it was a DOLPHIN!!!!!  I was so excited!  I wasn't able to get a picture of it though because it went under too soon. Like 20 minutes later, I ran to the car to grab something and what happens????? TWO dolphins swim past the dock and Abi got pictures of them in the sunset. Very Depressing.   But that is my sad story.

On our way to Folly Beach, we passed by this... It just needed a picture because A picture says a 1000 words.

There are more pictures and A VIDEO!!! Ohhh yeah!  You know you wanna check it out. Check out the KGP FACEBOOK to see more pictures and the South Carolina Video!!

Peace Ya'll

Monday Monday

Hey All!

Spring is here full force!  My eyes are red and watery and itchy and i wish I could stop Sneezing!  A huge thanks to the pollen out there!!

With Spring brings plenty more good than Bad though.  My dog at home is a very spoiled part Beagle and part Cocker Spaniel.  He HATES cold, rain and snow and for all of the winter prefers to be on the couch covered with a blanket....

Tanner loves the sun.  He likes to be warm and cozy and in the spring and summer you can usually find him laying on the driveway in the hot sun.  You will also usually find him with his ball.  I dont know what it is about this dang ball, but its the only toy that he doesn't rip to shreds.  He will literally eat everything that you put in front of him.. except this ball.  We had to buy like 10 of them and keep them hidden so that when one gets all gross we can switch it for a new one.  It always reminds me of the Petsmart Commercial. Which is probably one of my favorite commercials..

I leave you with some of my favorite spring images.. just because he is so darn cute.

Enjoy the weather! Spend some time outside! I know I will.

Good Morning Friday

Its 7am here in Massachusetts and I've been up for 3 hours already!  I attempted to get to school early enough to rent equipment for the weekend but that just wasn't going to happen.  Apparently now, on Fridays you have to be here at school at 4:30am to get in line early enough to get what you need for equipment. RIDICULOUS!!  I was driving in from CT this morning and when I go back into town at 6am I realized I was no where close to making it. So I took my camera and snapped some pictures!

The reason I was in CT all night was precisely this!  I had an AWESOME day at The Nutmeg Ballet Company yesterday.  They allowed me into their "home" and literally told me to make myself comfortable.  I spent the entire afternoon there, shooting from 2pm to 8pm.  I spent some time watching everyone practice.  Then headed off to the boys rehearsal and then to see the little girl Ballerinas.  Everyone was so nice and didn't seem to really mind me being there.  I ended up bringing a Canon 70 to 200 mm lens so that I could be around the edges of the room and still get the shots I wanted.  What was really great and a huge help for myself was that two of the four walls were lined with windows so I was able to use that light.

The Ballet instructors were amazing.  When I first got to the studio I was told to make myself at home and go wherever I needed or wanted to go.  Everyone was just so lovely and willing to allow me into their space.  I couldn't have been more grateful for the opportunity.   I switched back to my 24-70 wide angle every once in a while to shoot the whole studio and get a full view of the studio.  It was just beautiful.

I can't say enough how much fun I had yesterday and how great everyone was!! Thank you NUTMEG!!

ok, i'm getting kicked out of my computer desk!  So.. Ill be back later!!
